The Light That Enlightens

The light that enlightens
The world… for all to see
Shines brightest in the darkness
And its found inside you and me

Though our light has the least effect
When we are …in the light
But shines its way into the hearts
Of those lost in the darkest night

So let’s let our light shine
For all the world to see
The embodiment of Christ
Who died to set us free

Let our actions speak louder
Than our words could ever say
And emboldened other hearts
To mimic us along the way

Because our actions tell the most
About what we believe
A much bigger story to those
Who might perceive

That we talk a good talk
And we surely mean well
But our actions are not in line with
The story we’re trying to sell

So let what we know in our hearts
Shine through all we say and do
And be the light that enlightens others
To Follow Jesus too!

Power Verses:
Matthew 5:16 (NIV) “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

1 John 1:1-7 (NIV)”This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.”

The Fight Is All About Who You Know…But More Importantly, Who Knows You!

What are we fighting for?
Do we really even know anymore?
We’ve been fighting for so very long
The anger’s ingrained in our hearts
We keep playing the same sad song

Are we still fighting over a piece of land
Or are we just trying to make a stand
But what is our stance?
Do we even know?
Or are we killing each other just for show?

Where did all the anger come from?
Is hatred all we teach to our young?
Whatever happened to The Golden Rule?
Do unto others
As you would have them do unto you!

It’s never too late to stop the fight
To lay down our weapons and do what’s right
Why don’t we talk to each other, try to communicate
Work this all out
Before it’s too late

But something tells me
That will never take place
Until the clock ticks
Down
To the final days

When Christ returns
To rapture the Church
Where the dead in Christ
Will be resurrected
First

Those who’ve “died to self”
Will meet the Lord in the air
Our Lord Jesus returns
Making the battleground
Fair

For all of His children
Both the quick
And the dead
Who trusted in Jesus
And believed what He said

He returns for You
You’ve not been forsaken
But not all
Will rise to Glory
Yes some are mistaken

For their idol worship
And their hearts
Filled with strife
Will cost them everything
Not just their life

For their soul will live
throughout all eternity
Separated from The One
Who died
To set us free

And their rebellion
Their discount, their scoffing remarks
Will seal their fate and they will embark
On a journey Of darkness
That never ends

Cast Into
The lake of fire
For All
Of
Their Sins

What a heartache
What a tragedy
What a devastating end
Awaits those who reject Jesus
And what He did for all sin

So let’s stop all this madness
The incessant fight
Stop it right now
Take some time to
Think twice

Before we speak
Another word
Or use force to defend
What we believe on
And who we believe in?

Because our souls await
A “Glory that will never end”
If we know Jesus as His follower
And if He calls us His Friend!

Power Verse:
Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)
21″Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord’ did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?” 23 Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'”

What Does Blue Taste Like?

I’ve just recently started a Writers Group at my Church. We meet every other Wednesday in my home. Our vision is to create a Devotional Magazine and publish some of our work on our Church’s Social Media Site; along with including Poetry Readings within some of the Sermon Series and other teaching venues at the Church.

We use writing prompts to get the creative juices flowing and often use some topics just for fun. This past week’s writing prompt came from one I saw online via PINTEREST entitled: What Does Blue Taste Like?

So here is my attempt to tell you what Blue tastes like…

Blue like the longing
Of a lonely heart
Engulfed in a sad malaise
When two lovers part

Blue like the sound
Of an exhaled sigh
Too many words spoken
No tears left to cry

Blue Like Jazz
One looooong…sultry note
A double shot of whiskey
Lost in cigarette smoke

Blue like a diamond
That can cut to the bone
Revealing a bloody, blue heart
Left beating all alone

So, what does Blue taste like?
Well, It’s hard to describe
But, I guess you could say “Bitter-sweet”
Like when two lovers hearts divide!
