I have a job, a family and a home I have Jesus – I am not in this world alone
But others walk these streets with nowhere to turn – a life lesson you and I may never have to learn
They’ve been reduced to begging by holding a sign – not saying a word, just hoping we’ll be kind
Enough to purchase their daily bread – but we drive on by –
Enough said? – I think not!
I think it’s time to speak! – It’s time to take a stand for the beggar on the street
How did they get there – do we even care? Are we too busy to roll down our window and share
A smile, a bit of conversation maybe even find out their name – Or how they fell on hard times –
We should all be ashamed!
If we pass by these souls without lending a helping hand – and that doesn’t always mean money –
It could mean mercy and grace – because they are someone’s son or daughter- not just a nameless face
So let’s think twice the next time we are tempted to just drive by… because without the grace of God –
There go You and I
